For me this was a wonderful exhibition full of inspiration.
Rancinan photographs are larger then life and are beautifully rich in imagery and color.
The subject matter has lots of social commentary and some of the photgraphs are inspired by some well known classical painters of our time plus then throw in the mix some interesting imagery featuring Mickey Mouse as a muse.
The exhibition is made up of a few works from the series Metamorphoses, Hypotheses
and Wonderful World with a few celebrity portraitures in the mix.
I always love a new twist on a classic and a disney show!
There was 'La Danse des Nains' that was an interpretation of Henri Matisse 'Dance'. There was an interpretation of Théodore Géricault - The Raft of the Medusa and Diego Velazquez: Las Meninas / The Family of Felipe IV. His works are just as engaing as the originals.
Rancinan worked as a photojournalist before venturing into the fine art world.
He is an exceptional photographer, who I feel totally inspired by and grateful that through all his life experience can deliver, no matter what the reaction is, a fantastic image.
One picture reminded me of a weekend at sleaze ball in the 90's, but that's another story!
The exhibition is on at the Opera Gallery until Dec 1.
Check it out, there are so many great works in this exhibition.
